Bad things:
-Hubby forgot to put away his favorite pocket knife in the SD airport, so guess what we had to throw away at check-in? Poor sweetie.
-Mike's bag got lost by the airline and was returned the next day (whew!).
-I accidentally put Mike's (blue) cell phone in the washing machine with the (blue) sheets. Whoopsie!
-Came home to hear that a pipe in the wall had sprung a leak, soaked our carpet and some of our furniture (on the bottom, i.e. bookshelves), and stinks to high heaven.
-In an effort to tear up the carpet and remove the soggy padding, the "fix it" guys with their hot fans, plumbing, etc. had to move most of the furniture in the living room--not to mention ALL the stuff in our big closet--against one wall in the apartment.
Good things:
-Pocket knives are replaceable.
-Phone will be replaced for small deductible; he'll end up with the same phone. We still have his old one with most of the contact information.
-We get to stay in a hotel for three nights, which is kinda like being on vaca for a couple more days. At least our bags were already packed!
-Heard two very AWESOME sermons in Hanover Park. The entire congregation was very enthusiastic about having us come to be interns (or rather, intern with spouse) next summer.
-Got to ride to the airport this a.m. with Pastor Cotta, Mike's future mentor.
-I made a new FRIEND at the wedding this last weekend!!! She lives in San Marcos, which is like 10 minutes from us. (Yay, after one year, Pam has a friend with a similar sense of humor!) :o) Our two men were groomsmen, which meant that we were put together at a separate table. Mike said we were laughing like we'd known each other for years, which is a good sign, I hope.
-The "Black Mold" that our landlady thought she saw was simply really dirty carpet from the former Fondue Spill a couple of months ago. Alas....I pull my carpet cleaner out every now and then to shampoo the rug and remove the dirt, but the stain will always be there. But, the good news is No Mold for the CA Greggas!
-Having all of our furniture moved (along with all of the stuff out of the closet) means that I will be forced to finally organize our closet paraphenalia. I've been meaning to get to it since we moved in....Alas, what's a working girl to do?
-Mike finally gets to play with his new computer!! Yes, we took everything of value to the hotel room since the fix-it guys have full access to the apartment. At this very moment, he's setting up the programs.
-Bills got paid today! We're good for August. :o) Always a good thing.
Thanks be to God for his kind-hearted provision of safe travels, of protecting our belongings and selves, of giving us friends and for providing us with amazing family with whom we were able to spend good quality time. Thanks be to him also for the amazing services we had on Sunday. Most of all, after this trip (with the Catholic wedding ceremony/mass and all,) we're incredibly grateful that He has seen fit to open our eyes to the Gospel. Yes, life is not so bad. (And besides, Vons had Bailey's on sale tonight for a really great price. Mike doesn't know yet that I stached it in the fridge....) :o)
