Trick or Treat!

So, dear blog readers, last week I discovered that Corvallis does something really cool. The Friday prior to Halloween, all of the local businesses downtown have trick-or-treating. The library has all sorts of ring tosses, face painting, and kiddie games. There is a costume contest, which a friend of ours from church has won four years in a row.

Parenthetically, one of the things I like about this town is a commitment to small mom-and-pop businesses. The zoning and construction laws over the years have kept out major development to a small degree, which has left the downtown area with a "quaint" feel. The trick-or-treat thing is nice because for people like me who rarely make it there with a baby, this was an opportunity to check out what businesses exist here. It's a win-win for families who get candy and small businesses to draw in customers.

Due to the crowded streets, I didn't manage to take very many pictures of our sleepy puppy while actually out on the town, but Hubbs managed to take some before we left the house.
